< < but also there has not been 2.4GHz processor in zx5000 since long ago. > >

Not sure how you define "long ago", but my zx5000 has a 2.4ghz mobile pentium processor and it's only 2 months old!

They have changed the configuration at the beginning of June. Two weeks have passed and now they woke up with the news! Update! Configuration change! Kudos! [ :D] Kinda slow of them.

I have already decided not to buy HP. I was waiting for ever, for the longest eternity ever! Sleepless nights, bitter taste of denial and now my love is gone. [xx(] Goodbye, my love, goodbye! Now, I am in love with Ema. [ ;)]

To adidasnate: Ema aka Emachines M6809. The same day I receive my IDs with Canadian visa I will go and buy this cutie. No more waiting, no more suffering. [ :D] I said once that I am not going to pay my money to HP if they refuse to bring ATI 9600 and mobile processor back really soon. They failed.

To billy269: Once upon a time there's been a company known as HP. They had a gorgeous notebooks HP Pavilion zx5000 which featured Mobile Intel Pentium processor 2.8GHz and ATI RADEON 9600/64 video card. The time went by and everyone was happy until the very Evil Day. On that day Evil Dragon known as nVidia showed up and started breathing fire. This fire burned down all mobile processors and good ATI video cards. Many people were hoping that one day the Dragon will decide to leave and sun will start shining bright again but this did not seem to be happening. So people started leaving for other better places. Some left for zt3000, others for Compaq. I was also roaming in these lands until I found happiness in a remote not-much populated land Ema. Happy end.

Wyrm... maybe man you should not post while acid poppin?

Actually, I'd go with the emachines at this point myself. If Best Buy would stop rejecting my attempts at getting a credit card. Reminds me of a similar experience with my ex-gf.

    <blockquote id='quote'> quote:<hr height='1' noshade id='quote'>On top of it, there is nothing like $100 on their web-site! They offer $50 mail-in rebate only. <hr height='1' noshade id='quote'></font id='quote'></blockquote id='quote'>

The 100 dollar rebate is still there, they're just not advertising it.

    http://h30014.www3.hp.com/offers/us/detail.asp?id=213&sc=2

Always check the promotions section of the website, sometimes companies will stop advertising a promotion, but since they've already set the expiration date in advance, they have to keep it available somehow.

And yes, I am new here. I just ordered a zx5000....I was disappointed when the video card was dropped from a 9600 to a 9200, but then again, I'm not a fan of 3d shoot-em-ups or anything like that. So truthfully, it probably won't make a whole lot of difference for me.

Does it mean that I can apply for both rebates and get $150 back? [ :D] Would be cool!

The main reason I have give up on that notebook is 9600. I do not lose much going with Emachine instead of HP.

What Emachines notebook do you plan on purchasing?
    <hr height='1' noshade id='quote'></font id='quote'></blockquote id='quote'>

Scroll up, he already said which one he is getting.

Well, I got my zt3000 today. I'm kinda glad that they changed the zx5000 now. I just wanted it for the 9600, and looking back, I don't know why I was making such a big deal about the config change earlier in the month, because I don't even play that many PC games any more. I'm more of a console gamer. The only PC game I'm really looking forward to is Half-Life 2 and the 9200 should be good enough for that. I don't need full-screen AA and all that fancy stuff turned on.

The zt3000 is smaller and lighter, and I'm fond of smaller gadgets anyways, so everything turned out fine.

As for the $100 rebate, if your read the fine print, it says that "HP reserves the right to modify or withdraw this promotion at any time." So technically, they don't have the honor the $100 rebate anymore despite the fact that it says that it expires September 1st, 2004. I'm going to send in the $100 rebate anyways, and see if they take it. If not, hopefully they will still let me submit the $50 one.

Darn, i wasn't aware that zx5000 was offering 9600 ATI card awhile back until I went to this forum. I just ordered this notebook last week with 9200 ATI version. I hope there's not much of a difference since I will only be playing standard games; i.e. Sim City 4,NBA live 04.

I doubt it will make a difference for those games, its more of the FPS games that need it the most followed by some of the full features of the most recent games.

Woohoo, the ATI 9600 is back, with 128 MB of RAM.
    See www.shopping.hp.com .
Now why didn't they put a 9700 in it?
Was it before a 9600 64MB or the same 128 MB?

I have finally received my Ema. Thank you guys for all your help. Specials thanks to Quikster and Venombite who are doing a great job! Everything is so nice that I did not expect that, even such minor things like mild keyboard, fancy lights, left/rear side vents and bright display - I use brightness 5 or 6 out of 10!!! It seems to me that the quality of Emachines is great, I hope this lappie is not going to break down really soon. Looks like it was designed with us (customers) in mind.

The only problems that I have so far is mostly about Quikster's beloved Farcry. How do you play with touchpad? It is very inconvenient b/c there are no keys for turning to the left or right, so I have to use touchpad and as a result I get killed really fast. [xx(]

For you to have a fun: when I received it I immediately started looking for dead pixels b/c I was so scared of it. And manufacturer says they are not going to accept it back unless there are no more than 10 dead pixels. All my spirits went down when I discovered 6 dead pixels - 4 black and 2 rainbow-like. I was pretty much depressed but all of them were on the right side of the screen. Then, I occasionally shook the laptop and how amazed I was to see them moving down the screen! So, I took a small cloth to clean the screen to see that they were just tiny dust (black ones) and water drops (rainbow ones). [ :D]

It's interesting that HP hasn't updated the description on the main page to show that it has the MR 9600 with 128 MB. Still says only the 9200 with 64 MB. [ :D]

    512 MB RAM - 40 GB
ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 64 MB

HP Zx5000 now has the 128MB ATI 9600 option back. I believe it came back a few days ago.

Wyrm, thats easy, I don't use a touchpad for games [ :p], that would just be silly. I use a Logitech mx500 mouse for all my gaming and photoshoping. For pretty much everything else I use a touchpad, but the position and accuracy for the other two are just not there.

[ :D] That is because I am still waiting for my mouse to arrive. It has been 3 days of waiting already. But I had to test my video card somehow, that is why I tried to play with touchpad. My AquaMark 3 is about 22,200! [ :p]

BTW, is there such a feature in HP notebooks that you can assign certain commands (like minimize, maximize, go to start button etc.) to some zones of touchpad (left/right top/bottom corners)? I find it extremely convenient in my Ema.

ha, my HP has a higher score [ :p], also, I believe you can set it, I saw all kinds of things in the options for the touch pad, such as tap clicking, and mouse wheel.
