    hi all,

    I have a a8 ld I just + 6620g with 6gb ram (4+2)

should I just swap out the 2 and get a 4 1333mhz? Or can I put higher ram speed in? I was going to buy some 1600mhz ram but if it doesn't run at that speed is there any point?

Whats the best setup for a a8 3500m? Cheers

Don't quote me on this but from what i read here, if you have ram sticks with different speed than they all will run with the speed of the slowest ram stick. So in your case it wouldn't make sense to buy a 4gb 1600mhz ram stick if the other has just 1333mhz. If you want to upgade a 4gb 1333mhz ram stick should be your choice. :)

so essentially the best thing to do would be to make sure I have it running in dual channel, and just lump for some 1333 ram with my a8 3500m?

I'd say stick with your 2GB + 4GB unless you really want 8GB RAM. If you don't have a dedicated GPU then pretty much any Catalyst will work, the latest 12.3 should be fine. But for switchable graphics (integrated 6620g + dedicated) 12.1 preview or 12.1a preview seem to be the best option.

thanks for the comments my friend.

Yes I only have 6620g not a dedicated gpu.

So the dual channel ram won't add much performance?

    Thanks

If you look at my benchmarks of the 6620g, you can see I ran 2x4GB (red) and a 1x2GB + 1x4GB (orange). It will still run in dual channel, but only for 4GB of the 6GB, and it takes a minor perfomrance penalty, but less than 5%. If you had textures consuming more than 4GB RAM then it might be problematic, but they'll probably be limited to < 512MB.
