jUst bOught oNe with 2.0 gHz hP dv6000... 1.83 is about close to the price of 2.0 .. any itching differences between the two? upGrading the ram of a 1.83ghz to 4GB against the 2.0 with 3GB installed does put them on the saMe level performance and mUltitasking wiSe??

any opinions are much appreciated. thank u seNpai's.;)

As far as the processor goes, you won't notice the difference between the two, the .17Ghz is too small of a difference.

As far as the RAM goes, do you plan on using a 64-bit OS? Because that will be the only way that you'll be able to use the full 4GB of RAM. If you are planning on using a 32-bit OS, then 3.2 GB is the max RAM that Windows will be able to recognize and use, the other .8 GB will be wasted.

So basically if the prices are the same to go with the 2.0 versus the 1.83 I would definitely say go with the 2.0, but if the prices are that much different, you can go with the 1.83 and you won't notice the difference. Also, to your question about getting 4GB of RAM with the 1.83 versus 3GB of RAM with the 2.0, it won't make a difference between the two, especially if you only get a 32-bit OS.

    Hope this helps.

The processor won't make much of a difference, but at least with your new computer, your keyboard will work correctly.

lol gotta love the humor with your posts Lithus

umm you wont notice a difference when using both processors. Only CPU intensive programs will see benefit to the faster cpu.

1.8ghz is more than enough to run everyday programs.

It is. Annoying as hell actually. It gives me a headache when people write like that, and unfortunately way too many of them do back home. Just leave the "shift" key alone for the duration!

    PLEASE!

Anyway, as mentioned, the processors won't have significant increases. I assume you mean the T5550 vs the T7250?

whoa! whoa! point taken, boss.:D yes, its between T5550 vs the T7250. actually, its a 64bit vista that i'll be using so is it okay for me to max out the RAM 4GB? as envison said it wud utilize all 4GB's, whereas in 32bit 3.2GB is the limit, .8's useless. thanks.

Faster processor runs faster. Apparently, after looking at the superfetch and readyboot threads, a few seconds in boot time is SIGNIFICANT to some people.

    Just a thought?

    LOL
