    hi
i am a college student in China. i am interesting in R3000 for a long time .i have some questions to ask .
Do R3000 have some shortcomings such as the high energy cost due to first, its AMD 64 processor?is it hot after you run a lot of programmes for a busy day or longer? In China, there is rumor for AMD because its high temperature when it working. IS this viewpoint right in the united states?
second,R3000's keyboard is white which is easily soiled compare with the black keyboard. i don't know .i have no experiences in this notebook with white keyboard .so i want to know the answer.
third,1280*800 WSXA is enough for my compute games such CS? or should i cost more money for higher such 1600*1200

    thank you !!

The Athlon 64 has lower power consumption and better power management than the Pentium 4. You definitely want the Athlon 64 processor.

I have a HP zv5000z, which is almost the same as the Compaq R3000z but with a black keyboard. Mine has the 1680x1050 screen. The GeForce 440 video chip they use is OK for old games like Counterstrike and Quake 3 but it's too slow for new games like UT2004. It's comparable to the desktop GeForce 440MX. Every other Athlon 64 notebook I've seen uses much better video chips like the GeForce 5650 and ATI Radeon 9700. If the 440 is fast enough for you then it's a good notebook. The best Athlon 64 notebook is probably the Acer Ferrari 3200, which has the low-voltage Athlon 64 2800+ and 128MB ATI Radeon 9700 video chip. It's very expensive though. They won't be available here in America for at least another 2 weeks but China might get them sooner? http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/fr3200.htm

Acer is made in Taiwan. but its reputation is not as good as HP or COMPAQ in mainland of china. IBM and COMPAQ is the top two in china .
my desktop computer in lab is Acer, which is not as good as I image . so i will choice HP or COMPAQ if i buy my first notebook.
