Hp will allow you to purchase accidental damage coverage for up to one year after purchase.
Does anyone know if there is a grace period? ie... amount of time from when you buy the extra coverage to first time you can utilize it??
anyone have any feedback as to whether it has any eclusions or fine print that an average consumer should be aware of ??

There's no "grace period" but it doesn't cover pre-existing damage.
The accidental damage warranty covers what you would expect. From the terms:

so if i purchased it today and then tomorrow my dog knocked a Coke on the keyboard it would be covered no problem? You don't think a "spill" would be considered "Damage caused by failure to provide manufacturer’s recommended maintenance or operating specifications." Has anyone had something spill on it and not had it covered under this?

Spills are covered.

any recommendations on where to buy accidental coverage from? HP directly or a little cheaper thru something like amazon.com??

Thx for your opinions. But still can't decide if i should by accidental damage coverage or not. My SO's theory is that i can always (within a year of purchase) buy it later if i need it. My theory is that with 4 dogs running around and prev had them ruin an old dell laptop with Coke ... i just assume have it and be done with it. Plus get a discount if bought with the new laptop i will be purchasing.
Why am I trying to convince a forum ... i need the forum to either convine my sign other or change my mind.. One or the other so i can buy this darn laptop and be done with it! -
You could just buy an Asus laptop if you're so torn over this. Their non netbook or laptops not purchased at Best Buy come with 2 year global warranty with 1 year of accidental damage included.
