hi everyone so i bought a dv6tqe about 2 months ago and i am very happy with it, however i recently started to use very often bluray discs and i was wondering if it was possible to add a bluray drive to my laptop since when i purchased it they didn't offer it for free.

now they offer it as a free upgrade and i am also willing to pay for the upgrade, i was just wondering if it was possible.

    thank you

The actual BD drive and bevel kit can most likely be purchased from the HP parts store or an authorized reseller.

The HP spare parts number for the BD/DVD multi-drive w/Lightscribe is: 641824-001. This number is not for the BD writer. The kit should include the drive, bracket and bezel. Replacing the optical drive is as simple as removing a single screw and pulling out the drive.

thank you very much on the hp part store they sell it for 150$ while they offer it for free now and when i bought it was a 60$ dollars upgrade, so it seems kind of unfair.

however i found this external bluray drive:

    what do you think?

That's actually a good deal if you're ok with an external blu-ray. I was going to say be careful to get something with software to watch blu-rays because it can cost an extra $50-$100, but that one you linked to included it.

I bought an external blu-ray player for $50 and had no software, so not as good of a deal!

Call them to ask if you can get it for free to install yourself. The answer will probably be no. Then ask if you can get it for $60. The answer will probably still be no.
