The driver does not officially support switchable graphics, the only reason you were able to upgrade to 11.5b is because the hotfix supports everything, but you technically are running an unsupported version of CCC. The offered upgrade will not work on our systems. You can choose to download it and upgrade in a different way, but it may or may not work for you.

all of the AMD mobility drivers work on the dv6/7. the most likely reason why OP's installation didn't do anything is that he tried to use the desktop version of the driver instead of the mobility version.

Yep. I said officially supported. The hotfix drivers are a blanket release instead of a mobility vs desktop release. The CCC probably defaults to desktop when looking for upgrades however.

no, i mean there are two different drivers released by AMD, one for the desktops named
    Code:
    11-6_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe
    and another named
    Code:
    11-6_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe
i'm pretty sure the OP downloaded the first driver instead, which is the wrong one.

The autoupdate via CCC correctly downloads the driver, however it have the same checks as the normal download of drivers. That's why it wont update.

The hotfix was a blanket, the reason it installed cause cause it contains the compatible hardware id in it and doesn't have the full hardware id check.

In the end, AMD does not officially nor legally provide direct support with switchables with Intel chipset. And the drivers supports Switchables with AMD models.

The lack of an Intel folder inside the AMD Driver Package is a big hint. The only time it is found in the OEM installer or Windows Update OEM specific cabs.

I am unable to get 11.6 installed.

I downloaded from the link and installed directly over 11.5b. The driver version will not change to 11.6.

Are you sure you have the mobility drivers and not the desktop ones?

If you have the correct ones I'd driver sweep all of the ATI files, reinstall stock and then choose only to update the driver and not CCC when you run the 11.6 installation.

My problem was that the AMD Catalyst Mobility Downloader said I dont have the hardware to download the driver.
I have an ACER Aspire 7750G-2414G75M with AMD Radeon HD 6650M, but after I downloaded the actual mobility driver from Guru3D.com its working.
So I guess the downloader has some bugs in it.

According to the release notes on AMD's website the 6650m is not supported by 11.6 which is probably why i can't install it.
