i asked in the owners lounge but got drowned out between other conversations:

id imagine some here with underground knowledge ... i havent bought an envy waiting on bd-r capability. anyone know if the envy 15 will be refreshed with internal bd-r drive ? envy 14 & 17 both got internal optical drives so i figure its only a matter of time ...

id much prefer the 15 over the 14 or 17, since i can get it with a full hd screen res. just not crazy about getting an external writer ...

There has been enough speculation on the Envy 15 refresh. No one knows. All that we know is what is in the new manual.

the most recent manual for the 3rd gen (Envy 15 1200 CTO) I'm aware of was on the hp website a few months ago and there was no internal optical drive; however, I wouldn't bank on that as any indication of what will or will not be included since those pre-release draft manuals change so frequently.

I've had an Envy 15 for about 6 months... so far, I don't miss the optical drive at all. And the USB 3.0 port enables me to use a very fast external USB 3.0 12x blu-ray writer.
