so i contacted Hp on this issue of displaying approx battery time left and they said that this is a feature that is not present in HP DV5 laptop ( feature ... not present ... lol ...its a simple calculation ) , while some programs can calculate the average time , i want to use the windows battery meter , any one here managed to get estimate battery time left in battery from built in battery meter of windows on HP DV5 ?? , is it too hard for them to post a fix?? , is it really a feature that depends on laptop ?? , thanks in advance

As stated here many times, it's damned near impossible for a laptop, the battery, and software to accurately predict how you are going to use your machine in the next few hours.

Any software that pretends to do so is being less than honest. Many try, none are fully reliable.

Be content with a battery meter that reads out the remaining percentage of battery charge left and train yourself to equate this to runtime based on how you use your machine.

There are plenty of battery percentage meters out there, sidebar gadgets, tray tools, etc.

Well on my mac under bootcamp it's pretty damn close most of the time. And it would continually adjust the time remaining depending on my System load. IE screen brightness and so forth.

I still think it would be nice if HP would get his working.

a display on another machine does not mean that it's accurate.

HP doesnt really care about the consumer's opinions. its all about the shiny and sleek exterior look of the laptops that makes you want to buy it over other brands.

I seconded the BatteryBar. It's very good.
