I have a v2000z and I'm wondering if there are any quick programs or settings I can do to increase the battery time of my laptop since I like to take it to school without having to carry the power adapter.

Dimming the screen and turning off WiFi if you are not using it will help. 12 cell battery would help as well.

Disable all the devices that you don't use - card reader, Ethernet card, firewire, even DVD/CD - transfer the data you need on the HDD, bluetooth, wireless (if you don't need it)... Dim the screen. Undervolt!!

    1. I would start with Undervolt, set the Battery Profile in RMClock to PowerSaving only running at 4x.

    2. Set the screen brightness to the lowest setting you can use.

    3. Avoid CD/DVD drive use as much as possible.

    4. Turnoff wireless if not needed, if needed There are few settings in Broadcom Wireless Device settings for saving power in advanced Tab
    Minimum Power - Enabled
    Power output- 25%
Power Save Mode - Maximum Power Saving

    5. I have heard/read Disabling unused devices will save power, But I have yet to see any difference after few runs. So I just disabled only modem which I never use.

There is absolutely no problem to hardware because of Undervolting. Ofcourse during intial testing phase( to find the lowest stable voltage) you may have some crashes and restarts. Find the lowest stable voltages and add 0.025v to that for stability. ( use RMClock 2.05).

Undervolting reduces the heat, and saves the battery( do not expect miracles). Basically less power consumed by CPU, less fan cycles, so improvment in battery life.
