Perhaps purchasing some accidental coverage wouldn't be a bad idea if you are accident prone.

These notebooks are prett solidly built. Just be careful with as you should any notebook. I would recommend taking a look at www.notebookanalysis.com. This is a forum that has information solely on the Compaq R4000 and its twin, the HP zv6000. Good luck!

Well, as the former owner of a HP zv6000 (the Compaq's twin) and a teenager myself, I would avoid eating or drinking near the notebook (I almost spilled water on the keyboard once), and be careful with the latch - if you open and close the notebook too vigorously, you may damage it, causing it to stick.

Also, don't put anything on top of the display when it is closed - that can cause screen damage and cracks. This is especially important if you have cats. :p

Don't block the fans from intaking air, no magnets anywhere the notebook, and unplug it when you turn it off or go away - don't want to get a power surge. ;)

    Cheers,

R4000 and Zv6000 are very solid notebooks. The fan is always on and thanks to that and to me undervolting my zv6000, it idles at 23-25 degrees!! Happy Holidays
