There's a problem with my dvd rom ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=430627) and so i am trying to do a system recovery.

however, as i have already done a clean install before, the HP recovery manager is gone (even though my recovery partition is still intact). and i can't use my recovery discs as there's a problem with my dvd rom.

what other way can i use to do a system recovery? thanks in advance!

if u still have ur partition u can still access it when u start up your computer, there should be an option to hit a key for a system recovery

another way is to use a flash drive to do a clean install

You can go into Administrative Tools, Disk Management, and mark your recovery partition as ACTIVE. When you reboot your system there is a good chance that it will boot to the recovery partition and allow you to perform your recovery.

Let us know how you make out.
