I had no idea HP has a special version of windows operating systems and that using a regular version won't work. I just bought an HP pavilion that came with Win XP Media Center Edition 2005 pre installed (they don't ship with recovery CDs anymore!), booted from my old win xp cd and deleted the recovery partition.

Anyone have the recovery CDs for this OS? If you can let me borrow them for a day to see if I can get my computer up and running again, I would VERY MUCH appreciate it. HP sells the CDs on their website but it would take several days to get them.

Figure its worth a shot... to ask... Mahalo Nui.

    den, thanks for the reply.

is it a total recovery? does it come with all the drivers, everything?

did you choose the fastest shipping method?

You can use a retail or OEM copy of Windows XP MCE, doesn't have to be from HP. You can download all the drivers from HP website. The DVD they give is a recovery with the OS+Bloatware+Drivers. If you don't want to fool around with installing drivers than get the recovery DVD from HP.

They put warning signs in your computer to make the disk. I don't know why they stop putting them in there. It saves them money or environment reasons.

Set contains. 1- os xp media center edition 2005, 2- HP quick play 2.0 application restore cd, 3- Application and driver recovery on dvd. Looks like everything to me. Just to be sure I used a program called driver max from here to pull all drivers from notebook and put them on a cd. (Couldn't hurt)

After wasting about 30 cds I could not successfully make a backup cd set. I called HP and told them. I wasn't offered an opportunity for any shipping method nor was I charged. Just given excelent service.

When you create recovery cd-Den , it makes a copy of Window XP MCE. Has anybody done this before?

You really shouldn't be asking for someone to send you a copy of their recovery DVDs...

Anyway, make your own recovery CDs or get them from HP...they can ship them.
