CD-ROM order page - Recovery Discs
If you take this link and scroll down to the CD-ROM order page - Recovery Discs, under the Heading (Notebook recovery disc set Windows XP Home) there should be a page that might help you, unfortunately when I clicked on the particular page it said the “This portion of the HP Web site is currently off-line for maintenance. Please try again later.” maybe by the time you get this reply post it will be back online, if not try this link that gets you to Chat with an Online Technician, you can ask about your problem and maybe about the (Notebook recovery disc set Windows XP Home) page.
I hope this helps since no one else has picked the ball up and ran with it!
Be sure to use internet Explorer 6.0 SP2 Internet Explorer 7.0 Netscape Navigator 7.x Netscape Navigator 8.x Firefox 1.5x Firefox 2.x to be able to chat with HP.

well i will tell u how i got mine done after 3 month or erros and countless lost dvds .. first be sure to use only dvd+r

i dunno if this will work for u but it sure did work for me :

1-back up ur current system (c:drive) using acronis true image home(it's the one i used anyways)

2-be sure to chose from the acronis options before doing the backup the split backup archive into 4.7gb parts . coz ur gonna burn ur current vista into dvds

3-after u made ur backup and burn it to dvds use the acronis boot rescue media , which is a bootable version of acronis(ur gonna need that later on) ,, it's in option>create bootable rescue media it will create an iso which u can burn into a cd using nero or magiciso or any iso burning software

4-now that u have all that done . the current system backed up on the dvds and an acronis bootable cd.(very important)

5-restart ur lappy . keep pressing f11 do a complete system recovery from the recovery partition it will take like 40 minutes to complete.

6-now u have a fresh vista with factory settings .. now use the recovery manager and make ur set of recovery dvds(dvd+r only preferbly 3 of the same brand)

7-after the recovery dvds are done . put the acronis bootable cd in the cdrom>restart pc>it will load acronis true image home ,choose restore >remove the cd and put the first dvd of ur previous backed up vista >browse to that >choose the backup file and go on with the restore (remove 1st dvd insert 2nd blabla)

8-after the backup is complete .. restart pc and ur back into ur old vista with all ur apps and drivers and updates .. enjoy

tip:try the bootable cd first before doing anything ireversible ( we don't want to do something that we're gonna regret later on)

tip2: i used 6 dvds and 1 cd for this procedure . it might vary for u .. be prepared with plenty of them 10+

i know this is a very long process to do .. but i actually did it all in a couple of hours .. sure beats waiting for buggy bloatware dvds.

and hey if this process didn't work for u .. u still have ur original vista so there is nothing for u to lose except maybe a couple of hours

hope this helps u in anyway
