I've tried out the glossy touchpads on the HP's briefly at Best Buy, and I didn't care for them. I read the review on this site and the reviewer said that after a while he came to like the glossy touchpad alot. Is this experience the same for you?

    Thanks.

I've got the DV9700T and I'm not real crazy about the touchpad at all. My ZX5280 has a much better touchpad.

I will say that you do get used to it. At first, I could barely use the new one at all. Now it's not as big of a deal but I do use a wireless mouse most of the time.

I'm specifically looking at the dv6775us, but from what I've seen all the HP's have the same glossy touchpad. Its the same "imprint" finish as the rest of the case, which is glossy.

I had a hard time using at first but got used to it, now I have trouble using the normal textured ones. One advantage that to a glossy touchpad as opposed to a textured one is that the textured touchpads will wear down whereas the glossy doesn't have any coating that can wear in the first place.

One you'll be using for 3-4 years. So you better hope it's good.

I didn't really like the touchpad much at first, but I got used to it. Tweaking the Synaptics Pointing Device settings helps also. I made my pointer a tad bit faster.

I have a 6500. The touchpad isn't really "glossy" like the screen or cover, but it's certainly smooth. I like it a lot.

The buttons are great, too. They are much easier to press than other brands I've tried, and that means less wear and tear on your muscles.

DUh. Of course they have to be good. This discussion is about asthetics not functionality or performance.

to those complaining about the pad button not working fine... why dont you just double tap your pad instead of using the button.... you will find that these buttons are useless

I've used a lot of touchpads and I think the latest HP touchpads are the bomb. They are very responsive, accurate and a joy to use. Heck I have even managed to play some fps games using the touchpad, something I won't have bothered to attempt on my last ACER laptop.

It's the glossy screens that I don't like about the HPs..but that goes for most manufacturers these days..

I don't like the right shift key on the HP keyboards - struggling to get used to mine on my new dv9500.

The touchpads are fine though in my opinion - seems to work quite well.

I think the touchpad is great even though I don't use it!

I use a Logitech VX Nano (bought it at BB on sale for $50 & it's sweet mouse BTW!) & keep the touchpad shut off so I can game better.

You'll get used to it. If your fingers are oily all the time, it might be annoying to use the glossy trackpad... I'd suggest playing guitar and forming some callose which makes it SOOO much easier to use the trackpad. :)

I like it a TON better than the one I had on my R52. Although, the dimpled ones they have on the 12" tablets seem great, I wish they offered that for the other Pavilions.
