hello, i have the hp nx6325:

    turion x2 1.6 Ghz
    3 GB ram
    120 Gb sata hdd
video: ati x1250: 256 mb hyper memory
    running xp professional sp2

I recently bought the audigy 2 zs pcmcia card, and contrary to the popular knowledge my games run slower than before. I used to get 15 fps in doom 3 on avarage, and has since dropped to 12.5 - 13. Also it seems that all the games suffer from a small drop in fps (if i revert to the onboard sound the fps goes back to the usual one). I mention i have absolutely all the new drivers installed for both the laptop and the sound card. This happens both with and without EAX enabled in games (for example far cry, doom 3, quake 4, stalker)

It's a very important issue for me since the games i play are already on the edge on non-playability, and with this sound card i just take the plunge :)

    It this thing possible?
    Has anyone experienced this?
Can you tell me what am i doing wrong, if anything?
Or is it just the price to be paid for higher quality audio.

My frame rates are unchanged when I use my Audigy 2 for Notebooks, although I am no gamer. I think you'll need to contact Creative directly.

    Figuerd it out:

I used fraps to benchmark in realtime the same map in farcry, looking at an island not moving at all so the benchmark is fair, and noticed the frame drop only occurs when i use the laptop built in speakers. The second i plug in the headphones (or the 5.1) the frame counter jumps from 24-25 to 28 fps (and goes back to 24 when i remove them). I think creative drivers go trough my onboard soundcard to access the internal speakers and that is causing the performance hit (2 soundcards at the same time).
