If i have my dv6500t always plugged in with the abttery in to will it ruin or affect my battery in anyway?

I believe it shortens the over all lifespan of the battery.

But in short, they have built-in charge limiting circuits that prevent them from being over-charged. They can't be drained completely either, and it's best to top them off rather than run them down from time to time like you should with Ni-Cad or NiMH. They also have a finite life, which means you should use it whenever you feel the need to do so. Don't worry about using it for 5 minutes and then plugging it back in...it won't hurt it at all.
You can leave the battery pack in all the time while on AC as well, you won't hurt the battery because the charging circuit shuts off automatically and won't come back on until it hits a preset level (often 10% or less), at which point it will top back up and then shut off again. If you're like most users who leave it plugged in at home and use the battery while out or on the way to/from work, then you're using it exactly the way it was designed. Use it and have fun.
The only exception to the above is if you leave it plugged in ALL the time and never run it on battery, because the pack will not be used at all and it's just a waste of the capability of the pack. In this case, storing it at 40-60% charge in a cool, dry place is the best option, and just keep the laptop plugged in to AC 24/7 so it maintains power at all times.
But if you're going to do that, you might as well buy a small desktop computer with a flat screen!
