    battery recall, validation problems

    hey,

    has anyone else tried to validate a new battery replacement? i tried several times but it keeps saying my battery doesnt have a valid hp battery serial number.

    is this recall only for the ones in the states or soemthign? mine is a 2570z (canadian) maybe this is why?

    I had same problem. But since I have the newer 4.4AH battery I doubt my laptop was built during the early January 2005 timeframe the recall covers.

    Should be worldwide, give helpdesk a call and ask if they can be of some assistance as they should be aware of the baettery issue, and should be able to shed some light on the S/N part.

    The battery has start with L3. I had the same issue until I read the fine print of the recall. Hope this helps.

    yeah my battery DOES have a L3 in the serial AND it is 4.4AHr

    man this is so frustrating, i feel i have many more headaches with after-purchase support down the road.
