    hi

i just got a v2000z a few days ago and i just downloaded mobile meter since i seem to loose battery life quickly.

according to it my battery wear level is already 35%. designed capacity of the battery is 88800 mWh but my maximum charge is only 57306 mwh.

    is this normal?

yes for v2000z and l2000 it's normal. All of our batteries show between 30 and 37% wear level, as far as I follow the posts here (i'm sure you have the 6 cell battery, right?) This battery is a bit unusual since it has smaller capacity than other 6 cell batteries (the ones Intel laptops have, yeah!) and Mobile meter is not detecting it correctly

Yaa, Mobile meter has some problem reading battery properly in these models with 6-Cell. Not only that it can not show discharge/charge rate also. So, do not worry too much about it.

Add the discharge rate of 12-cell to the list of N/A as well.

He said 88800mWh, so it is a 12-cell battery. Anyway, my 12-cell battery in DV4000 is now 8% wear (~5%/month). The full capacity is still 86519mWh. Perhaps you should try to recalibrate the battery as HP suggests.

    Billcsho,

It shows 888000mWh designed capacity even for 6-cell.(see the attachement). Somehow MobileMeter is confused about this 6-cell. Even the fully charged capacity is only 4300mAH for this battery, not 58000mAH as MobileMeter shows.

How do you explain the fully charged capacity being more than the designed capacity?

BTW, I can never get a wear level reading.

I suspect that HP mis-programmed the battery... or their BIOS. MobileMeter just reads the info via ACPI. Then again, there could be some new ACPI revision that MobileMeter doesn't know about (it hasn't been updated in ages), but I'd bet on HP goofing up.

It has been mentioned acouple of times that the Intel Hp's with 6-cell have larger capacities. I thought they are all the same DV1000 - L2000. If not should a 6-cell battery from one of these Intel machines work on a L2000/z2000v ? I only have a 12-cell and was planning to get a 6-cell 2nd (much lighter) battery.
