    battery worn in a new DV5

    the DV5 in my use was purchased in Oct '08 (30th) and in the time following that the battery has worn down to 6.2-7% based on charging rates

    qs is

    can i claim on this

    if not what can i do to prevent this (cycling does not help..and please no links to HP's battery tips..those do not work...atleast the power cycling did not)

    can you guys help

    I had a non hp battery go from 0% wear to 15% within a week, it was returned for replacement.

    The first question I have for you is do you leave your battery in whil you are also plugged into AC power? I never use my batteries unless I leave the house. That's why having an extra AC is also handy for using the laptop in bedroom, etc.

    well yeah it is plugged in, but i do manage to take it out when i can remember


    but it has been discharged to critical levels and i wonder if that might be te cause of such failiure
