Anybody have any idea why this occurs to my Pavilion g series at random times? When I say *click*, I mean a real physical clicking, like a switch or relay opening or closing. It's a little creepy, actually. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Could it be your HDD clicking?

I doubt it. At least I've never heard a hard-drive make anywhere near this combination of sounds before. The beep is tinny, like a tone made by a piezo-electric speaker, and the click is very distinctly mechanical, like a switch, or something physically coupling or uncoupling. It usually only does it once a session, but it seems to be consistent. I wish I could provide more data for a diagnosis, but that's really all it does. There are no other symptoms.

Before my current SSD, I used to have a Travelstar 7k500 drive that used to occasionally beep and click. Seemed like the drive momentarily lost power and came back (without the spin down/up).

Remove the HDD then power the notebook back on. No more clicking/beeping = faulty drive.
