    black picture when playing movies on external lcd

    i use compaq evo n400c.when i try to play movie on external lcd i get black picture how i can i fix it?

    it could be a codec issue or it could be a malfuntion with the video driver. not sure, my info is limited in this area.

    perhaps another member can provide more help.

    No, that's an easy one.

    You can't have the overlay picture on 2 monitors at once. You are trying to have the picture on the LCD and the external monitor at the same time.

    Switch it to only have the external monitor on and it will be fine. :cool:

    I've seen laptops that can display the picture on both the laptop screen and a projector/second monitor.
    but perhaps that is not the case on all laptops.

    use vlc with non hd movies and smplayer for hd movies.vlc works great on a second monitor.

    If the movie plays just fine on your laptop's screen and none of the above suggestions work (codec install, different player,make sure that in your control panel your external monitor is the primary one), try disabling the video acceleration in windows media player (you can find that under options - Performance - just slide it to none), as that can sometimes cause problems.Don't worry, movies usually don't lack in quality after this change.
