I connected it to an external monitor and everything worked fined. I can't see any crack in the screen. It sounds like your LCD screen cable has been disconnected which would explain the screen not coming on. This article could help you a bit as it explains a related screen problem in which colors can become distorted:

Laptop Repair Help » Laptop screen shows strange colors. What could be wrong?

If you don't feel comfortable opening your laptop to check for the LCD screen cable connection then it's best to take it to a repair shop. The other possible issue is that the backlight has gone on the display, you can check for that by simply shining a flashlight on the display to see if you can see a dim image on the screen that indicates it's working but the backlight is not:

Laptop Repair Help » Screen inverter replacement. Fixing laptop backlight problem.

It sounds to me more like your cable connector has come loose though.
