I just bought a 2GB memory(DDR II 800, the brandname is A-Data) for my hp 2530p, with original primary 2GB memory, total memory is 4GB. However, the windows was sometimes hanged with "blue-screen" while running some application after upgrade to 4GB ram. Then I run the HP start-up test of the HP system diagnostic in the BIOS. the memory test could not be passed.

I would like know which brandname of memory should be compatible with the memory in the primary memory slot(default 2GB ram)?

    Thanks.

Crucial is the safest bet. I upgraded my dv9000z with their 4GB kit and various other HP notebooks with Crucial prior to that. For desktops I've had good luck with G.skill, haven't tried their notebook memory yet. Regardless of what you buy, testing memory after upgrading is a VERY good idea. Too many vendors like to cut annoying expenses like "testing".
