I am wanting to get a dv2000t and I am curious about the bluetooth device in it. I have an LG VX8600 phone and am curious if they will pair successfully. I did some searching on the internet, but came up with nothing. If the HP is not going to sync with my phone, I'll order the laptop without the BT capabilities.

Are you concerned about that specific phone working with the laptop or phones in general? My nokia connects just fine and I use both the PC suite bundle that came with the phone and the OBEX file transfer programs that came with the laptop.

You could go to BestBuy or CircuitCity and ask the salesperson if they could help you check if your phone would pair with one of the HP dv2000t models they have on display.

If your LG phone has built in Bluetooth capability it should work just fine.

The phone does have built in BT, but I am wondering if there are different BT protocols that are incompatible.

Also, all the dv2000t models that are in Best Buy do not have built in BT so I can't check it. That was the first thing that I tried.

the only incompatibility issue is if the specific phone wont work with the specific bluetooth device in the laptop, the protocols are basically standard.

The LG's manual should mention how it should be paired. You may also need additional software from LG to make it work.

I have compaq laptop with built in bluetooth and an lg fusic cell phone. I havnt had any pairing trouble between the two so far. It supports a whole bunch of stuff from ftp transfer to phone modem. And the thing about bluetooth is that if your laptop doesnt support a protocol that it uses all you have to do is go get updates for your bluetooth drivers. I had bought a pair of bluetooth headphones that used A2DP service but the bluetooth on my laptop didnt have support for A2DP, so i found an update and now i have support for it, no pairing troubles at all.
