    Hi,

I have a dv9000t with the latest drivers provided by HP.

I have a annoying lag in startup, in fact they are two lags:

1-First lag is in welcome screen, for about 15 sec.
2-Second lag is just before welcome screen, with a blank screen and mouse icon for about 10 sec.

I think this problem is caused by the audio driver (venice chipset) but i really dont know, and i dont know how to get riddle of it

In past threads some people were talking about the worstation service to hang....

I already try diferent audio driver including the vista provided.

I'm thinking to take the "clean instalattion" way....

    Anyone having thes lags?????

    Thanks!

I can confirm both of these lags on the tx1000z. However the second lag does not occur always. Sometimes it does, sometimes not. The funny thing is that I am not doing anything different. It is as if the laptop decides whether to lag or not. Anyway, I am trying the tune XP 1.5 (which works with vista) solution about startup right now and I will let you know about the outcome.

Edit: Bah, the tune xp 1.5 had no effect on my startup times.

Well we have the same question. Sometimes I just think that windows may be installing some files it downloaded before I switched the laptop off the last time. Hence the delay. Vista always seems to be downloading something.

Try Microsoft Bootvis. Not only will it tell you what processes are causing delays in startup (among other things), it can even optimize the boot times for your computer. I've used it several times; it's awesome. Just google "Bootvis" and see what you get.

NOTE: This utility only works in Windows XP. It will not work in Vista.

YES! It IS the Audio drivers, the Conexant ones are causing this, I am 100% sure of this.

Uninstalling the Conexant Audio and Modem drivers from Control Panel REMOVES this annoying lag, however, now my sound makes a "pop" noise when I boot up and shut down, does anyone know how to eliminate that? I'd be so grateful, thanks!

What do you mean pop? Does your audio work without the Conexant Audio drivers?

Yes it works perfect. Vista uses it's native drivers for it, same with the Modem.

Problem is it makes this pop noise when you shutdown or boot up. The pop noise is that noise it makes when you install your sound drivers, kinda like it's restarting if you know what I mean.

I just want to know if this pop noise means it's hurting my sound card in any way, or if anyone knows how to get rid of that, I would be so happy.

I am positive that it does not harm your system in any way. I do not know of a way to avoid it though. Just have it on mute when you shut down and turn it back on again when you boot.

The problem with the vista native audio driver is that the mute key no longer change to orange anymore when pressed.

And another thing is that with that solution, the lag dissapear but the network icon becomes irresponsive for about 15 sec. and if you look the worstation service hang on startup for about the same time.
