    All,

Just bought a brand new DV6 with Windows 8 pre-installed. I want to change out the HD with a SSD. I can't find any info online on how to do this for windows 8. Seems like Windows 7 was simplier to create a system image and move things over.

I've tried making a image to a external HD, create a recovery snapshot (restore point) to a external HD, create a windows backup with a thumb drive. Nothing seems to be loading up properly. Even after updating bios to have the proper channel to boot with.

    ideas? please? thanks.

Try Paragon Image Backup for Windows 8 to make a backup of the HD onto the SSD.

Just simply backup all your files. Download the Windows 8 ISO from Microsoft and put it on a flash drive. Pull the hard drive out. Replace with SSD and boot into the Windows 8 install and just go through the setup.
Clean installs are the way to go.
