    brand new hp dv6 7014nr running too loud (Fan noise?)

    Hi all,

    This seems to be a broken record on the internet but my laptop is running way too loud for how little resources i'm using.

    i just but this laptop and everything about it is awesome i thought it was too good to be true: Great processor, 8gb ram, great graphics card etc...
    However, it seems like it is too good to be true because this fan noise is RIDICULOUS.

    I mean sure, it gets loud when i game but that's to be expected. But even when i'm not running ANYTHING the laptop is so noisy. I read things about the "fan always on" in the bios but i'm a little on edge about doing that without proper consulting.

    I really don't want to return this laptop, it's great in every other way. but this is just too loud. Any advice? Thanks for the help.

    I have this laptop and the fan isn't that loud during a light workload; in fact, I can barely hear it. I also have the fan set to "always on."

    You may want to consider an exchange with HP if you're within the initial 21-day window.

    I am wondering the same thing. My 21 day return window is up at the beginning of next week. If I turn my DV6T-7000 on after not being on all day and just surf the web the fan is humming the whole time. All processor cores are being used under 10% and my core temps are all around 40C. I have set the BIOS setting for "fan always on" to disabled, and the fan is always on regardless. I tried disabling coolsense and setting the Windows power management setting to both passive and active., and it seems to have reduced the fan speed, but the fan is still always noticeably on when I am using my laptop in a quiet room. I am trying to figure out if this is normal for this model (even when "fan always on" is disabled in the BIOS). If it's not normal I want to exchange my laptop. Can anyone confirm that their notebook fan ever actually turns off/cycles with rising temps?
