    hello!

the "J" key of the keyboard my dv5000 laptop is broken

its been 3 months since I bought my laptop, the guarantee is 12 months, but they refuse to fix it without me having to pay

do they have the right to fix it for free? or they are correct refusing to fix it for free?

if they are correct, I will have to give them $100 to fix it (replace the keyboard)

I think this price is very high

is there any other way to fix it cheaper? can I buy a keyboard and replace it myself ? is it easy to replace it? will the guarantee continue to be valid after I replace the keyboard?

    thank you!

If the item has been borken by yourself, then they do have the right not to have to fix it. However, if it has just suddenly broken, and you have nothing, then they should replace it, as it is under the warranty. I'm not sure what might be the wrong with the key, but a keyboard replacement would probably the easiest way to fix it. Have a look on ebay or some other Internet sites, if you can find a replacement. But first, don't give up on that warranty claim.

If you did not purchase Accidental Damage Protection then it would be covered for free.
