I'm going to get receive a new HP Envy 15 tomorrow and I'm wondering what are the common issues to check so I can find out if there is a problem before the 21 days on the return policy are up.

    I ordered 1080p display, 2.2ghz i7, 8gb ram, 750gb hybrid drive

Its mostly just cosmetic stuff.. ie stuff fits together, no dented surfaces, stuff like that.

Well it came in early. I have it right now and sure enough a dented USB port and there is a little gap on the bottom portion (both corners) where it connects.

I'm going to keep it for a day and test it out while I have it... pretty annoying to have to deal with stuff like this I think especially for their "flagship" model.

Trackpad is slightly annoying as well when trying to do 2 finger scrolling.

Everything else seems really nice though.

I have the same gap problem near the bottom. It doesn't bother me at all, but that was my only cosmetic issue. If I had more issues I may have returned it.

As for the touchpad, try an app called TwoFingerScroll, I don't have a link for it.. just google it. This little program works wonders for the touchpad. It makes it almost as good as the macbook pro I migrated from.

Yeah it's a really small gap but that along with a dented usb port...

how can their quality be so bad. It was packaged nice enough so it wasn't damaged anywhere besides their own factory.

I just did that and I can now scroll better with 2 fingers. I use a mouse most of the time but it would have been annoying when travelling/airplane.

I really like this laptop, the screen is awesome even though the reds aren't as deep as they should be and it's quiet, fast, and hasn't got over "warm" for me.

Still returning it of course for replacement, but for a while I was debating on getting a refund and going for the Samsung series 7 but I can't get over how much better this screen is than the Samsung I just saw in the store.
