i'm deciding on a laptop and i'm almost certain its going to be the dv5t but can't decide on all the specs. right now i have it set up with the following:
-t9400 (2.53 GHz)
-WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
-4 GB RAM
-250GB 5400RPM hard drive
-Blu-ray drive
would i notice to much of a difference if i dropped the processor to a p8600 or p8400 and upgraded the display. also if i upgraded the display to 1680x1050 would it be worth it to pay the extra 50 bucks to the infinity display.

I would drop the CPU to P8400, and get the better display. Drop the 4GB of Ram to 2GB of Ram to save yourself some more coin.
Dropping down to the P CPU's will give ya some more battery life.
As far of the Infinity display, its a love/hate type thing. I saw it at Best Buy and felt it was not worth my $50. I didn't like it that much either, but some people love it. -
if you have to have 4gb of RAM, buy the free 2gb first then buy 4gb of RAM from newegg.
they have this insane offer of 4gb for only $57 after rebate. it will save you nearly $90 off from upgrading directly from hp. the offer is here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227251
it is completely compatible with the dv5t -
I don't really know about the CPU, but from what i've heard, 2.53 GHz is a bit excessive, even though i got it lol, but i got it cause i had to improve something in order to reach the 1299$ on the 400$ coupon deal. People say 2.4GHz is more than sufficient for gaming. For the screen, the infinity is purely your choice, it isn't exactly an upgrade because its more like a choice of which type of screen you like better. Also, as stated before, 4GB RAM is unnecessary at their prices, you can just go ahead with 2GB and buy 2x2GB sticks at Newegg for a cheaper price, and you will have two extra sticks of 1GB. It's very easy to install RAM.

If you are wanting the 4GB of Ram, than this is the route to take.
HP is charging $150 for a 2GB upgrade, no need to do it through them. Newegg is your friend.
