    hey guys,

There seems to be a high-pitched whining noise coming from my laptop (dv6563cl). Is there any way to fix this (I've already returned this once...gotta love costco :) )? I believe it might be coming from the CPU...as all my friends who have gotten new laptops with the core2duo processor have told me they have this noise as well.

If it's the CPU power supply oscillation that you're hearing, then yes it's somewhat normal with all C2D processors - several threads exist about this topic. There are ways to reduce the sound by using RMClock or other utilities. Try doing a search for RMClock and whine to see what comes up.

Personally it doesn't really bother me since I'm rarely in a very quiet room where it's audible. :)

I am using RMClock...hmm I guess it works since the whining noise goes away when I'm connected to AC power and on battery it comes and goes with RMClock on.
