You could hook up the notebook to your TV using a S-video cable.

You can buy a HP Notebook QuickDock which will allow you to connect your laptop to a TV through multiple ways (S-Video, RCA, Component, VGA) or you could just use an S-video cable and connect it directly to your TV.

S-Video is going to give you pretty low quality.
You should have an HDMI and VGA port on your 9000. Both of those will give a high resolution connection to your TV. If your TV doesn't have HDMI inputs, but it has DVI you can get an HDMI>DVI cable which should do the job (that's what I use). If you have HDMI on your TV, that might carry the sound and video. If not, you'll probably need a Y cable to go from your headphone jack to the audio in RCAs on you TV.
If your TV is pretty old though, S-Video may be your only option. -

Good call, I didn't look in the sig, so I wasn't sure which he had.
He could always go with the VGA connection; does the z have that at least? I guess it's all moot if the OP is trying to hook it up to an old SD tube TV. -
Few TVs have a VGA port, so component is the highest quality he's going to get. S-Video is a step down, but in all honesty, the laptop screen is going to be the best place to view the photos. Unless the TV is HD, you're going to loose a lot of quality no matter what kind of cable you use.

I have a specific VGA port on my plasma TV and hook up my dv9000 directly to it. Then you just go into the display properties and setup your display.
Make sure you set it to the proper resolution that your television can handle.
can i hook up the dv9000 to a tv?
