Call someone else. They can't refuse to cancel an order like that. Plus, that means you'll have to pay a 15% restocking fee.

If HP fights this, get it in writing that they refused to cancel the order upon your asking. Then take it to the CC company and cancel the charges.

Bottom line, you can cancel the order if you want...they can't refuse.

Oh, and if you do happen to receive the notebook...refuse the shipment. Once you accept it will be an even harder fight to avoid that 15% fee.

Actually HP doesnt charge any restocking fees since they offer the 21 day return window. So it really does not matter whether you accept the notebook or not. I believe refusing to accept delivery is the main way of cancelling an order once it has been placed, ofcourse contact HP & let them know that you would be refusing delivery since you want to concel the order. I dont think they can cancel an order once it has been placed.

    .

Seems to me it would be "cheaper" to cancel an order for an item that hasn't even been built yet, than to build it, ship it, have to eat shipping both ways, then fiqure out what to do with it once you get it back... That's alot of extra "cost" that you and I (other HP customers) end up paying.

In addtion the "extra" shipping back and forth gives more chance of damage in shipping... (Yea I want a unit that has traveled around in the back of a truck a extra couple thousand miles... bouncing up and down)... Over one that was shipped one way.

Me thinks they "could" cancel a order... but know that in most cases people will go ahead and keep the item once it's delivered...

They cancelled my nc8430 order (upon my request). I later called in and re-ordered, but they didn't know I was going to do that and they still cancelled the order.

Maybe I'm thinking about the brick stores 15% policy.

If it was shipped you have to send it back. I have cancelled orders but it wasn't shipped at the time

Another reason to try to get the order cancelled, instead of waiting for the item to be shipped, refusing (or sending it back after someone signs for it by mistake) is the time your credit card is going to be tied up with the charge, awaiting a charge-back (credit) to your credit card.

The game is they know a large percentage of people will just keep the thing that have had second thoughts...
