    ok, i have a zv5000. (zv5242qv)
    its 15.4 widescreen

when playing any dvd in any dvd playing program,
i can only watch the movie in a minimized fashion.
if i maximize to full screen, i get only a black screen.
altho i still hear the sound of the movie

    Try upgrading your display drivers.

Are these actual DVD's or are they DivX files? What players are you using to play the movies? I've heard that Media Player is a bit flakey, try upgrading Media Player (if that's what your using) or any of the other players you're using.

Actually, I think I had a similar problem with WinDVD. The software/drivers it loaded into the system seemed to have messed up something in the system. I un-installed it and installed PowerDVD that came with my video card (desktop) and it worked fine. You may want to try the same thing.
