    cd drive isn't reading cds

    hi my freind has a hp zd8000 series and i am trying to help him reformat it but every cd that i put it it reads them as blank when i know they are not blanks

    can anyone help me here? thanks in advance

    does it read any cd's at all? Its probably a faulty drive

    it does read, thats what my friend told me but for some odd reason right now it reads them as blank cds, its probably about....6-7 months old now

    okay i tried some new cds, like real cds to be exact and they work such as the warcraft 3 roc cd worked and this sample cd from maximum pc, but the burned cds are the cds that isn't being read

    Or the cd's are just messed up. If you burnt them yourself, they could be coasters. To prove that, original CD's worked, and burnt ones didn't.

    How many different burnt CD's did you try? Different brands? or did you just try like 5 cd's of the same brand?
