    hi i need a new charger for my laptop can people show me what one i need to buy, would i need to buy from hp or are there any cheaper alternatives out there

    You could look on EBay. You could also get a Universal Notebook Power Charger.

    Usually it is better to get a charger directly from HP, unless you know the exact part number and can verify that it isn't some third party knockoff. The universal thing might work, but a lot of them require you to buy the right "tip" for your notebook...and you might have a difficult time finding one to match the nc8430.

    Anyway, check out the 90W adapters on this page for more info on what you need.

    the NC8430 has an out of the ordinary charger tip. I bought a charger online and it did not fit. It was the "Hi Capacity model AC-C14" so whatever you do don't buy one with that part number, even if it says it's for the NC8430.

    I was just about to post something along the same lines.

    I read somewhere (I think in the offical Hp docs) that the Business Line model machines use a special "FAST-CHARGE" charger.

    I was reading that in reference to a HP / Compaq nx6325 RB526UT#ABA

    HOT DEAL !!!! $500 after $100 HP mail in rebate. This unit being priced normally at $975
