I have a Compaq Presario X1000. When I plug my AC adapter in, the battery charges to about 30%. It then registers as 100% charged and stops charging the battery any further. The charging light shuts off and the laptop runs directly off the AC power. When I unplug the power cord, the battery goes from 100% to 30% within seconds and then lasts only about 10 minutes before it finally dies. Is there anyway that I can force Windows to keep charging the battery even though it believes that the battery is fully charged?

It's about 4 1/2 years old. I figured that it was the battery but I thought there might be some way that I could force the charge on it.

    Thanks.
