I've had my zv5000 for a year and half now, and it doesn't charge unless the laptop is off and I have to really press the cord in and lean something up against it. I've had the prong resautered and got a new battery, but doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

Looks like a bad AC Adapter or bad AC connector. The adapter is to test and also easy to fix, but the AC Connector is a bit more difficult to fix. Try a new AC adapter and see if the problem persists. If it does then it's your connector. You'll either need to get the connector replaced/repaired or need to get a new systemboard. Just make sure the pin the in AC connector is not loose/broken. If it is, you'll need a new connector soldered onto the mainboard or get a new mainboard.

brianstretch Notebook Virtuoso
If it is the power connector, the workaround if you don't want to send it in for repair is to buy a HP XC1000 media cable. It plugs into the expansion port on the right side of the notebook and, among other things, includes another power connector to use with your existing power brick. You can usually find them for cheap on eBay.

Brian,
I guess that would be a cool work-around. I didn't even know you could do that with this cable. I thought it plugged into a docking station, but I guess I was wrong.
