    Playing dvd's shouldn't really be a problem on your machine, what kind of software you use to watch it? If you're a Windows user i recommend win-dvd, WMP can give a choppy playback sometimes is my experience. Not sure why though.

    Hi, yes I am using windvd and all dvd's are choppy

    To check if the DVD has fallen back into PIO mode. Goto Device manager and look for the ATA/IDE controllers and see if any of them are in PIO mode. If they are then uninstall that controller and then restart Windows. It should automatically recognise and set the correct DMA mode on the next reboot.
