every time I reboot the computer, the clock goes back to feb 27th 2000, I have run antivirus software, and it does nothing. Is the internal battery going bad? I have a dv6500t.

The CMOS battery is probably dead. You'll either have to contact HP or fix it yourself; the battery might be right under the keyboard but I am not sure.

that's what I was thinking, but the computer is less than a yr old. Has this happened to anyone else? And why Feb 27th 2000, sounds like a virus to me

You're right, it is rare that a CMOS battery would die so fast, but that doesn't mean it's impossible for such a thing to happen. Perhaps you just need to re-seat the CMOS battery. Try that first and see what happens. If that doesn't fix things, try a new CMOS battery.

LOL Mine died in one day and the laptop wouldn't go into Windows or bios after that. I got "Time-of-Day clock stopped" message. This is on a Dell.
