So my friend has this old laptop. The compaq presario 2500. She messed alot of things up with it and asked me to fix it. I heard that compaq's dont allow you to boot from a CD... is this true?

I have the windows xp cd. But i dont know what drivers she needs. Is there a place where I can download them?

How about is there a place that I can download an image of the recovery cd. Would be alot easier.

    Thanks guys!

yea....my old laptop was a 2500......iv still got it.......u get all the drivers from the hp site. just go to www.hp.com click on support>drivers download nd enter ur exact model number which will be found at the bottom of your laptop.

compaqs do let you boot from a cd and i have done this several times.you can do a fresh xp install by this method my advice is to partition the hdd while doing this

i have never faced this problem during any of my installatings

what cd are you using? the windows xp cd or the recovery cd?

when ur using the windows xp cd set up ur system such tht cdrom devices boot first

then when u start your computer a screen will show saying press any key to boot from cd

    press any key

    follow the instructions

    install the drivers

    and ur set!

i have never heard of the compaq windows xp pack 2
