    hello.

to my knowledge, the 2570 (1.8ghz 64bit turion proc) is just a preconfigured 2000z for canada. so heres my question, what kind of ram does it use? what kind of ram CAN i use?

i loked at the ram article for dummies, and was going to use that program to indentify my type of ram, but its no longer free and the thread is dead.

anyways what kind of ram can i use? im thinking of upgrading to 1 gig or 2. unfortunately my laptop came wiht 256x2 (from what i can see) to make its 512. so im going to get a stick or 2 depending on price i might even just get 512x2 for 2 gig if its to expensive.

also anyone know of some sites that sends stuff to canada?

    TIA

My preferred choice is Crucial PC3200 1GB SODIMMs. They're a bit over $100 each here in America. I have two. Definitely go straight to 1GB sticks. Dunno about where to shop in Canada.

V2000z comes with PC2700 (DDR333) but is capable of supporting PC3200 (DDR400). It can work with DDR memory type but not DDR2.

Stock memory in the V2000z series is the 200 pin DDR 333(PC2700) SODIMM's. It will support DDR400(PC3200) as well. You can buy memory from any manufacturer.

If you want to know about the RAM currently installed in your system, try CPU-Z. It is a nifty little program and is very good in displaying info about the core components.

    hey,

thanks for the program its pretty usefull. anyways it says that my stock ram is actually pc2700 @ 166mhz.

i assume they put slower ram in our canadian notebooks :D

anyways can my laptop run "dual channel" ram? is it worth the money to use dual compared to single?

    TIA

166MHz x 2 (Double Data Rate) = DDR333 x 8 bits = PC2700. So, you have the same RAM HP sells to the rest of us.

Socket 754 Turions (all the current ones) are single-channel only. The new socket (Turion X2 for starters) will be dual channel DDR2.
