    Hi

My laptop doesnt hibernate. Its compaq v3000z. First time i thought its windows fault but after fresh install hibernate didnt work either. When i tell him to hibernate it starts but then after two seconds an error pops up "not enough memory" or something and screen goes crazy. Well its impossible that it doesnt have enough memory i got 2 gigs. And i tried two or three different versions of windows.
I think it might be bios issue. Had someone problems like that?

    Peace

Hmm... does Suspend work? I disable hibernate and use suspend-to-RAM instead but you need to be careful to get the notebook to a power outlet before completely draining the battery if you do that.

Are you sure you have enough HD space to hibernate? You ought to, but...

Yes, Suspend works fine. I do have enough space, like 5 gigs on my C drive. Right now i use STR but i would love to have hibernation. Any other ideas?

Only 5gb of free HDD space on C:\ could be the problem. Try freeing some space and see if it works.

    "MORE INFORMATION
The space that the hibernation file requires is directly related to the amount of RAM that is in the computer. If you add more RAM, the Hiberfil.sys file must grow to match the total RAM. Adding more RAM also automatically increases the size of the Pagefile.sys file, which by default is 1.5 times the amount of RAM. Adding 256 megabytes (MB) of RAM increases the Pagefile.sys file by 384 MB.

If the Hiberfil.sys file grows by 256 MB and the Pagefile.sys file grows by 384 MB, the free space on the hard disk shrinks by 640 MB. There must still be at least 740 MB of free space to allow hibernation."

Try defragmenting the drive. I forget whether hibernation requires contiguous free space or not, if it does a defrag should get it working.

ok guys, ill try that. But i have to mention that it didnt work with fresh windows install either. I dont remember how much free space i had then and if it was defragmented. Anyway i ll try that.
    Thank You for Your help.

    it works :)
i made some space on my hd and then defragmented it. Im wondering what was the issue. Tab in Power Options said that i need only 2 gig of free space so it less possible that it was issue but You never know :)

    thanks Guys one more time.

    peace.
