last night as i was turning off the dv4t, it shut down but after a few seconds, it seemed to power itself back on. i tried again to turn it off before booting into windows with the power button but it turned back on too. anybody know what's causing this. the only way to turn it off was by taking out the battery. after taking out the battery, i was able to shut down properly.

I believe there are some tasks that could be set to perform overnight (look at your task scheduler) that might turn the computer on and off after completion.

    Yeah probably the above
also (its a stretch) could be that something is forcing the power button to hit the connector?

Could be a virus. I'd do a complete scan on the system, then run a boot scan if possible.

could it be something to do about the quickplay. i uninstalled the quickplay software and since the quickplay button could be used as a power button, the quick play button had no assignment so it just turned on by itself. i haven't seen this problem since that day. so i hope it doesn't happen again
