you can't configure the expresscard remote control. sorry no can do.
to insert your remote control to the expresscard slot:
first remove the dummy cover by pushing it hardly, then it will pop out.

insert the remote control by sliding the narrow side in first (the side with buttons face upward). Push it in until it locks in.

It's kinda sensitive, make sure you've got a good line of sight to the IR port.

I've only seen mine work with QuickPlay.

Whether it has further application, I don't know.

Give it a try on quickplay to determine that it works, first of all.

it's hard to say which applications work or not with the remote.

(dude, have you actually inserted the coin battery yet? just checking...lol)

anyways, the remote definitely works well with QuickPlay and Windows Media Center, and even Windows Media Player, you can pause, forward...etc... you can select menus using the directional arrows...
The remote works universally with the volume control, up/down/mute.

heck, even the directional arrows work with PowerPoint slides...(next/previous slides)

when you are using the remote, make sure that it is directly point toward to the IR receiver next to the microphone jack...(pretty weak signal)

The directional arrows work as it was the directional arrows of the keyboard, the ok is the enter, the back key is backspace, the up and down keys near the shut off button are the pgup pgdown keys and the i is the right click, you can even try on the reply box, and it will work.
