im on the verge of buying pavilion dv6t quad edition and im a little confused about the processor choices. the base edition is 2nd generation Intel(R) Quad Core(TM) i7-2630QM (2.0 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) and it be upgraded to 2.2 GHz or 2.3 GHz. what does that number mean and how much difference does an extra .3 GHz makes? macbook white has 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. does it mean macbook runs better even though memory is less?

It wont make a huge difference. The i7 will crush the core 2 duo in performance. Cache typically makes the biggest difference, usually upgrades have more cache. All of the chips you mentioned have 6MB cache.

Personally I'd upgrade to the 2720QM if it isn't too much, but the difference between the 2.2 and 2.3 is usually a couple hundred and is absolutely not worth it.
