    hi,
am getting my notebook next week
but wanted to know if will need to get a cooling pad too
as the 12 cell battery lifts it almost 1/2 inch so not blocking the bottom
am looking forward to a cooling pad without a fan
will that make any significant difference ???
    thanks

I have a 12-cell and have never needed a cooling pad. The only reason you might want one is that the 12-cell doesn't extend completely across the bottom symmetrically, so a cooling pad would give you a full-width flat surface on your lap. But in terms of cooling, I've found the lift the battery gives is enough to keep it cool.

i have both the six and twelve cell battery I dont really notice a difference in heat w/ both of them. When I place the laptop on a hard surface (countertop, tabletop) theres not change in airflow. Although when placed on my lap airflow is restricted and it doesn't matter what battery is in. No matter what my hp really doesn't get that hot...it gets warm but not hot. Thats my two cents.

To be honest I don't really know exactly how long it lasts but i'd say around 3-5 hours.

I've had my laptop since March/April and it still gets 3.5-4 hours with my 12-cell with normal usage.
