so... i have had my dv6500t for about 2 weeks now, but unfortunately... i just dont llike it, nothings wrong with it, i just dont really like the glossy looking outside and the thing being a dust collector like no other, and the whining/buzzing sound (just started a few days ago  ),... so i was wondering if anyone had any experiences returning to costco... i know i bring it to an outlet store with the receipt and such.... but do i need to bring anything else?... how long does it take to get my money back?...but anyways... any feedback would be nice... thanks

from my experience with costco just have your receipt and also everything that came the the notebook including the box and the manuals etc., how did you pay for it will determine how you will get your money back

I returned a notebook. I had all the stuff for it. It's usually a good idea to save the box in case you have to return it for repair. I had bought mine online with my credit card. They gave me cash back since I didn't use my AE card. I don't know how picky they are about the box. Can't hurt to ask.

I took a unit back today. I bought online and paid with a Mastercard. Two "problems" arose.

First, since the stores only deal with AMEX, they could not put the credit back to my Mastercard. Their remedy was to refund me in cash. No biggie, but I did have to go straight to the bank with a 1" thick stack of 20's.

Second, since the unit's packing list is attached to the outside of the box, and it was torn off shipping from Shanghai, they had a quandary as to how to determine if the unit was complete. The online receipt does not detail the build. it only indicates a custom HP computer and a dollar amount.

Costco apparently does not have a plan for validating returns at the store level. They ultimately had to trust that I was returning the whole order.

Ultimately they cheerfully refunded my purchase with no hassle, just a bit of a wait as they pondered their own shortcomings regarding dealing with returns for online purchases of custom orders.

BTW, I was returning a DV9500 with Vista Ultimate 64 Bit. It's a bummer that Costco has no option for Vista Ultimate with 32 Bit. I ordered a 32 Bit Premium Vista unit two days after I ordered the 64 Bit unit by mistake. Costco could not cancel the original order and indicated my only option was to return the first ordered unit when it arrived. (Both units arrived the same day).

Overall, Costco handled the transaction with great deference to the customer. But it remains to be seen whether they would be so accomodating if it was obvious that items were missing, such as the box or packing materials.
