hi
my dad had old hp laptop and over time the hard drive or OS became corrupt to the point that it stop booting up right. lucky he had extra laptop and save all his work. i wanted to see if i can repair it for fun of it. now he got laptop back in 2010 at future shop. now future shop made set of recovery cds for laptop that he never used. i did try use the recovery cds but they don't work. i got this message saying: this PC is not supported by the system recovery discs. so after awhile i did manage to get laptop working for while and i was trying to make a new set of recovery cds using hp recovery manger it was slowly working creating the files, i think i got up to 50% and it locked so after rebooting laptop it didn't work anymore.it boot up to the windows vista loading bar then restart over and over again. so i took out hard drive and using external hard drive adapter i look at hp recovery drive and it showed 11 gbs out of 12 gbs of free space. so recovery partition drive is some how gone. but i still have future shop cds so my plans is to try rebuild hp laptop software or OS on spare hard drive by copying files off cd. some of the files are in folder that i can unzip using 7-zip.
could it be possible?

update: i got the laptop to work. i think the vista dvd i used fixed some of the things also made new profile to log in to so that what i been using to get in. the other profile doesn't show up on switch profile menu but the folder is still there. now i'm trying to make set of recovery disks and ya that recovery d drive is gone. like it still shows up on drive list as d:hp recovery. but contents is gone. i don't think hp make set of recovery cds for laptop anymore.
could i rebuild from recovery cds?
